Fitness & Recreation
At Harbor of Grace Enhanced Recovery Center, we help patients heal their bodies along with their minds and spirit. A healthy lifestyle including exercise and recreational activity is critical to long-term recovery and total wellness. Our certified fitness counselor and trainer evaluates each of our patients to determine current fitness levels and needs. Shannon then develops a custom treatment plan, monitors each patient’s progress during their stay and makes adjustments as needed. Fitness options range from cardiovascular and weight training to outdoor activities like hiking, with something for every patient.
All patient suites at Harbor of Grace Enhanced Recovery Center have full, updated kitchens stocked with plenty of fresh, healthy groceries. Patients are able to make healthy choices that accommodate all dietary preferences.
Yoga & Meditation
Every day begins with quiet meditation and reflection and is often followed by hour-long Y12SR sessions. Y12SR is also known as The Yoga of 12-Step Recovery, and weaves the ancient art and science of yoga with the practical tools of 12-step programs.
Practiced for over 2,000 years since its beginnings in China, acupuncture is a system of complementary medicine that involves pricking the skin or tissues with needles to alleviate pain and treat various physical, mental and emotional conditions. Harbor of Grace Enhanced Recovery Center provides this optional treatment program an experienced professional licensed and certified by the State of Maryland. When combined with more mainstream substance abuse treatment methods, acupuncture has been shown provide significant advantages and recovery progress acceleration.
All of our patients, once medically cleared, are encouraged to participate in weekly Kayaking. Males and females go once a week in separate small groups with a guide and Harbor of Grace Staff Member to enjoy being at peace on the water on Swan Creek, an inlet to the Chesapeake Bay. While on the water and enjoying the beautiful scenery, Bald Eagles, Great Blue Herons, Beavers and Otters, our patients are taught how to find peace and spirituality in Nature.
