Group & Individual Therapy
The most effective way to bring about change
You can achieve sustainable recovery
In addition to regularly scheduled sessions with their counselor, our patients participate in daily educational and therapeutic group sessions with other community members. At Harbor of Grace Enhanced Recovery Center, we believe that group therapy is the most effective way to bring about change in the individual. Small Group sessions provide an opportunity to look into the mirror through the eyes of his or her peers. Others can often see what we cannot, helping to identify new, healthy methods of coping. The primary goal is to replace destructive behaviors with behaviors that are conducive to sustainable recovery.
Education on the mental health and the disease of addiction is at the core of a patient’s treatment at Harbor of Grace. Group lectures, discussions, whiteboard exercises and videos allow patients to de-mystify their disease and better understand the steps they need to take in recovery. Topics include the neurobiology of addiction, recovery models, stages of change, the relapse process, relapse warning signs, nutrition, conflict resolution, and spirituality. This understanding allows for more informed decision-making and for implementing a more effective plan.
