Bernard Taylor has been a resolute law enforcement professional with 18 years of experience. He is currently transitioning into a role centered on advocacy, community work, and policy reform. Bernard’s extensive background encompasses various areas, including city policing, school resource policing, and university law enforcement. These opportunities have provided Bernard with an extensive and comprehensive understanding of community safety and social justice issues.
With a range of technical certifications, including Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), CompTIA Security+, and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), highlight my ability to navigate intricate systems and effectively address contemporary public safety and information security challenges.
Bernard possesses a bachelor’s degree in psychology and criminal justice. He also holds a certificate for Clinical Mental Health Counseling as well as a Certificate of Completion from the Arizona Trauma Institute in Mental Health Needs of Law Enforcement, Trauma Support Specialist and will be finished his master’s in criminal justice from University of Maryland in December of 2025. This knowledge has enhanced his expertise in social policy and public service. Continuing his academic journey of pursuing a master’s in social work aligns seamlessly with his professional background, positioning him as an emerging community development and social reform leader.
Additionally, his membership of organizations such as the NAACP, the National Association of Black Social Workers, and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated showcase his commitment to community advocacy and advancement. Specifically, the involvement with the NAACP Political Redress Committee reflects dedication to advocating for policy changes that advance equality and justice.
As a law enforcement officer, no one else is better equipped and knowledgeable to understand the trauma of first responders. His knowledge of trauma work and skill set make him as asset to those on the front line. His combination of law enforcement experience, technical skills, and ongoing education in social work equips him to serve as a valuable asset in bridging the gap between communities and institutions. This diverse background allows him to ability to initiate positive change, cultivate resiliency and support equity in differing communities.
