Matt began his public service in 2004 as a volunteer fireman/EMT-B in Harford County. During his ten years of service, he attained the rank of Fire Sergeant. This is where Matt’s desire to pursue a career in law enforcement began and he joined the Baltimore Police Department. His police service started with mid-night shift foot patrol in several of Baltimore’s troubled neighborhoods. Since 2007, Matt has been reassigned to the Northeast District and Northern District FLEX Squad. His many assignments include pro-active enforcement in violent drug infested areas.
In 2012, Matt was awarded the district operations officer of the month. Over his 15 year career, he has received multiple letters of commendation or arrests involving handguns. He joined the National Law Enforcement & First Responder Wellness Team at Harbor of Grace as a Counselor Aide in 2015 and brings several years of Peer Support to assist other officers in need.
